An excellent award-winning wine coming from the vineyards of DO Ribera del Duero and DO Toro which has been aged for 12 months in American and French oak barrels. The wine has a deep, bright red colour with the intensity softened by cherry hues on the borders. On the nose, it is intense and complex with notable spicy aromas, hints of toast, cacao and vanilla. Also, with balsamic aromas and notes coming through. It is crisp and balanced with sweet tannins as a result of a combination of oak ageing and perfectly ripe grapes. Full of flavour and a long-lasting finish. This wine pairs excellently well with red and white meats, cold cured meats, stews and cured cheeses. Ideally served at a temperature range of 16-18°C.
It is a mix of sand consisting of silt and clay which alternates with layers of chalky limestone.
Continental weather. Cold winter and extremely hot and dry summer with important differences in temperature between day and night.
The harvest takes place at the beginning of October. Macerated on skins for 18 days with several pump-overs. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 26-28°C. The wine is aged for 12 months in barrels of American (75%) and French (25%) oaks where the malolactic fermentation takes place.
